There Is Room for All of Us to Win: Let’s Choose Collaboration Over Competition!

Several of you may not get this but this is for the MATURE adults!!
There Is Room for All of Us to Win: Let’s Choose Collaboration Over Competition!
Shame on the mindset that believes someone else’s success diminishes your own!
Yes, I’m talking to those who struggle to collaborate, support, and elevate others because they feel the need to keep all the attention on themselves. Sometimes, the very person you overlook, discourage, or refuse to work with could be the connection God intends to use to help you reach your next level!
This world has become so divided, and it’s disheartening to hear stories of people allowing competition to turn into cruelty. When did we stop celebrating one another? When did someone else’s opportunity become a threat to our own?

In my world, if someone wants to work with one of my team members, write for another publication, or explore opportunities with another media team, I support it! Why? Because I believe in growth, collaboration, and opening doors for people. I don’t believe in holding people back just because they are connected to me.
Unfortunately, not everyone operates that way.
Whether it’s fashion, movies, music, media, or any other form of production, we should be creating opportunities to build one another up—not tearing one another down through gossip, backbiting, exclusion, or unnecessary competition.
Recently, I experienced a moment when a positive comment I left on a fashion professional’s post appeared to be filtered out. I can’t speak to the reason behind it, but it reminded me of something I’ve witnessed far too often in this industry: sometimes, even genuine support can be met with silence instead of appreciation.
And after eight years in publicity, I’ve seen enough to know that we need to have an honest conversation about how we treat one another behind the scenes.
Maturity is understanding that you can be confident in your own gifts without feeling threatened by someone else’s. You can celebrate another person’s accomplishments while continuing to build your own. You can collaborate without losing your identity, share opportunities without losing your value, and support someone else without diminishing your own platform.
Yes, competition can be healthy when it inspires excellence, creativity, and growth. But when competition breeds jealousy, division, and intentional harm, it stops being productive and starts damaging relationships, opportunities, and even the joy people once had for their craft.
Here’s what I want us to remember: there is enough room for all of us to shine!
We don’t have to be best friends to be professional. We don’t have to agree on everything to show respect. And we certainly don’t have to dim someone else’s light to let our own shine.

Let’s End This Blog on a Positive Note!
I still believe in good people, genuine connections, open doors, and the power of collaboration. I believe that when we come together with the right intentions, we can accomplish far more than we ever could standing alone.
So, whether you’re a fashion designer, filmmaker, musician, publicist, photographer, writer, entrepreneur, or community leader, I challenge you to become the kind of person who opens doors instead of closing them.
Celebrate someone. Recommend someone. Share an opportunity. Give someone their flowers while they can still smell them.
You never know how one act of kindness, one introduction, or one shared opportunity could change someone’s life—including your own.
And remember, what God has for you does not require you to sabotage someone else to receive it. Walk in your purpose, protect your integrity, and keep doing good even when others choose differently.
As I continue building S.W.I.F.T. Magazine and Swiftmag Media, I’m committed to creating spaces where people can be seen, heard, celebrated, and connected to meaningful opportunities.
My mission is bigger than competition. It’s about impact, community, and creating moments that matter.
Let’s stop competing to be the only one in the room and start collaborating to make the room better for everyone!

Because when one person rises, they can reach back and help someone else rise, too.
Keep shining. Keep building. Keep collaborating. And above all, keep your heart in the right place.
