Tasteful tips and trips visits Islas in Spartanburg SC  on the Square for oysters

If you follow my social media, you know I'm all about food! I have been craving oysters for a month now. Recently while in Spartanburg, SC my banker told me about this new spot downtown. My friend Jervonne Thacker has been telling me that she will meet me anytime I’m available for an oyster trip . So I hit my girl up and we met at this cute and decorative restaurant that was all about oysters!! I have never eaten so many oysters in my life in one day. I definitely surpassed my craving! We had the best time we laughed, and we met people.

The servers were amazing and they educated us about the drinks and the oysters. We sat at the bar, and even the chef was watching us from upstairs and brought us some samples of oysters to try. This cool place, Islas on the Square in Spartanburg South Carolina is located on 113 North Church Street.

Before my friend arrived, I decided to sit at the bar and enjoy A drink while I waited. There is something about drinking a Bloody Mary cocktail with oysters that I love. The drink was not on the menu, but the bartender was super nice and he said he would make one for me. The ingredients consisted of A Natural blonde bloody mary mix with Amsterdam vodka. What I loved about this drink was that the garnish was hand stuffed with big blue cheese olives Which is my favorite to go in a bloody Mary drink. He also put taheem on the rim that added an extra flavor to each sip. Talk about very delicious to say the least.

When Jervonne arrived We tried various types of oysters that were served from around the country. We arrived early, just in time when the doors opened for happy hour. The first special I chose was the James River which was a Balanced salinity with a subtle sweetness, a clean taste and firm texture from Virgina. This was the most popular happy hour item served at $2.50 per oyster with a minimum of half a dozen. It was very smooth going down.

However, the most overall popular and most recommended oyster was the “Pink Moon” It was described as Briny, sweet, and slightly fruity notes with & crisp Finish Prince Edward Island, Canada And this also was my favorite Of the raw oysters! Upon serving On ice chips were crackers, horseradish and cocktail sauce, as well as a pickled salsa. When mixed with all three toppings on crackers , this flavor was amazing.

My friend Jervonne Wasn’t too keen on the raw oysters so she ordered the Buffalo style that were lightly breaded and fried; tossed in house made buffalo sauce and bleu cheese crumbles. These oysters were one of the chef specials with a little hand, a spice and very tasty.

We also had the Herb & Butter raw oysters that were Grilled with garlic and herb compound butter. My friend did not like these, but I sure did.

We decided to live on the edge a little bit and try one of the oyster shooters. The one of our choice was the house shooter made with Vodka, Naturally Blonde Bloody Mary Mix with a horseradish kick. It was definitely different and a little slimy but very interesting to try. Because bloody Mary’s are my favorite cocktail drinks, I wanted to live on the edge and try this one. Again, I liked it, but because it was raw, my friend wasn’t crazy about it. It was served in a cute little ceramic tiki shooter.

when you go upstairs, there is a cute little sitting area. That’s like a long nook that overlooks the street outdoors these big windows. Islas definitely gets a five star rating for atmosphere, customer service and food !!! On behalf of Tasteful Tips and Trips food blogs, I highly recommend this fun fellowship and delicious oysters restaurant to be added to your list Our place to visit in Spartanburg, South Carolina
